OUI Inc.

OUI Inc. is a University-launched startup founded by the ophthalmologists. Nowadays, over 44 million people are blind and 2 billion populations has a visual impairment, and the economic loss is calculated over 5 trillion USD. The main cause of this world blindness can be treatable by sufficient diagnosis and treatment. However, due to the lack of medical devices, these numbers are gaining these days. To solve this word problem, we invented a smartphone attachment medical device named “Smart Eye Camera(SEC)” which has an equal function as a conventional slit-lamp microscope. SEC achieved to perform an ophthalmology diagnosis anywhere, anyone, and anytime. SEC has great potential in remote diagnosis and online consultation especially in developing countries in isolated places. Moreover, we are developing diagnostic artificial intelligence (AI) to develop a new style of ophthalmology diagnostic system. We just started this project in 2021, now we have over 20 partners, and over 100 SECs are installed worldwide to bring an ophthalmology diagnosis, especially in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America to screen out the treatable eye disease and bring them to suitable ophthalmology partners. We aimed to reduce 50% of the world’s blindness by expanding SEC.

We aim for a society where people can do what they want as long as they wish to continue, which might be work, daily life or hobby.

Qolo is a University-originated startup with a core technology that enables people to stand up even if they have limited lower limb motor ability.

Being seated long time would cause functional problems such as you cannot reaching your hands and eyes to higher places as well as health problems.
Health problems, including pressure sore, bone demineralization and circular system, would shorten the length of a healthy life.

Qolo cares wide range of their journey which starts from wheelchair to back to life.
We support rehabilitation first, then back up their daily life later.
Rehabilitation products make standing rehabilitation efficient and encourage the improvement of motor function without physical overload on therapists.
Mobility products enable them to stand up and move in daily life scenes even if they could not recover enough.

We develop those models parallel and make it Japanese market available in 2023, then 2026 in the US.
We do update quickly our product in Japan first since both models are not considered medical devices.

Redge, Inc. aims to provide sustainable and safe medical care to all over the world with clinical engineer technology. Medical devices are essential equipment for treating the patient in a hospital. Therefore, Redge, Inc. provides “CeTrax”, packaging system including medical device management and education based on Japanese clinical engineer knowledge and experience. For management part, we provide a simple system that combines cloud database computing and AI image recognition. It leads to forecast medical device failure and balance supply & demand consumable parts based on prediction the working rate of medical device. For education part, combination of hands-on training and video contents will expand local medical provider resources. CeTrax will improve the quality and safety of medical devices in developing countries.

Aphelia

Aphelia builds wireless charging stations for satellite constellations in space. Our proprietary Aphelia’s Receiver subsystem has a 77% size reduction, 93% less mass, and 93% reduction of additional launch cost compared to SpaceX Starlink’s large solar arrays. We are targeting LEO satellite constellation companies (Internet & Broadband) by providing them increased User Capacity while improving their unit economics by having additional high power at the lowest cost/kWh delivered wirelessly to their satellites without relying only on the availability of solar exposure. The commercial sector of the LEO smallsat market value which includes Satcom & information applications will grow from $10.6bil to $38.9bil in 2031, an x4 increase. The global space power supply market is estimated to reach $5.175bil in 2032 from $2.625bil in 2021.
Our Why is to consumerize space exploration. Just like how powerful smartphones nowadays have enabled Digital Economy across many regions on Earth, we aim to enhance satellite technologies so that everyday people on Earth can be part of the Space Economy across many regions in our Solar System. To date, we have received $25k USD grant from a governtment agency and are on track to raise pre-seed investment of $500k USD and another $1mil USD grant from a government ministry to bring our technology to space.

EnergyBank Limited

EnergyBank is on a mission to decarbonize global electricity grids. We are developing a novel energy storage system to make the most of renewable energy and provide an alternative to fossil-fuelled electricity plants. Our Deep Ocean Gravitational Energy Storage (DOGES) technology has significant cost and environmental advantages over other low-carbon energy storage and deployment alternatives.

The DOGES system converts energy between electrical and gravitational potential by lifting and lowering large masses (tokens) on vertical tendons between the ocean floor and a floating spar buoy moored with tethers.

Renewable energy provides the lowest cost generation in most electricity markets. It’s limited in use due to its unreliable output profile. Low-cost, mid-duration energy storage (50-200 hours @ <$20/kWh installed) is widely seen as the solution to this problem. EnergyBank can provide this at less than 10-30% of the cost of today’s lithium-ion storage and less than half of the 2035 projected cost of lithium-ion options. We have identified 42 countries with deep water close to large urban centres. We see an immediate demand for 14,222GWh of storage in these countries, growing to 22,075GWh by 2040. At $9m/yr/unit, this would be worth $128b/yr growing to $232b/yr by 2040.

Liquium

Liquium is developing the next clean li quid fuel for heavy industries by building new, efficient, green and scalable ammonia plants to align with renewable energy generation and zero carbon fuels.

Liquium has unique IP for the production of ammonia under mild conditions with a new catalyst, allowing commercial ammonia production to be re-imagined at new economic scales. Ammonia production with Liquium’s catalyst will significantly reduce capital and operating costs (external modelling supports cost savings of >50%) of an industrial plant by a simpler process and less demanding infrastructure requirements.

Liquium’s business model focuses on two different key target markets. Firstly, renewable energy generation where MW scale projects typically do not align to hydrogen and ammonia production. But with Liquium these market opportunities in energy storage, distribution and utilisation can support local markets and use cases. Secondly, aligning to macro scale (thousands of tonnes per day) ammonia production to support the clean fuel diversification that is required for heavy industries such as the maritime sector. Following this pathway allows Liquium to scale ammonia production with market need and de-risk a new technology, and support economies transitioning from fossil fuels to clean alternatives such as Japan.
