AHMED RAZMAN ABDUL LATIFF – Malaysia

Associate Professor Dr. AHMED RAZMAN Abdul Latiff is currently teaching MBA courses in Putra Business School. He holds postgraduate degrees from Nanyang Technological University, Lancaster University and Liverpool John Moores University. He is an Associate Member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and Chief Examiner for Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA). He is also the Vice President (Finance) of Case Writers’ Association of Malaysia. He is an IP Panel member of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) overseeing the commercialization of UPM’s innovation. He is currently in the board of directors of a startup specializing in technological products in healthcare. He has a weekly radio program talking on latest economic and business issue and also a regular commentator in newspaper and TV. He has been passionate on a very wide range of interests including accounting, economics, finance, entrepreneurship, human governance, corporate governance and ethics. ALEX CARPENTER – Australia

Alex has founded six businesses all in different industries, covering produce wholesaling, hospitality supplies, events promotions, gift hampers, a bicycle brand and a tourism company.

Alex runs the University of Sydney’s campus wide entrepreneurship program, Genesis. Which has helped over 1000 entrepreneurs and has been running for 11 years. This program supports students, staff and alumni develop and validate businesses while contributing $50,000 worth of seed funding every year.

Alex teaches into a range of courses at the University of Sydney including Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Future of Business, Social Entrepreneurship and Global Business.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Managerial Accounting from the University of Western Australia and a Master of Educational Psychology from the University of Sydney.

He is passionate about teaching the skillset of an entrepreneur in order to ensure people will be prepared and able to thrive given the large-scale changes that are taking place in the Australian economy.

ANTONIO M. DEL CARMEN – Philippines

Prof. Antonio “Tony” del Carmen is a seasoned entrepreneur. He has been involved in finance, aquaculture, real estate, information technology, education and training. Currently, he is the CEO/ President of STI College Santa Rosa and President of Prime Infoserve Management, Philpro Management and Development Corp. and the Center for Transformative Learning. In 2008, Prof. Del Carmen started teaching Entrepreneurship at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business (AGSB) where he was also the Program Director for the Master in Entrepreneurship Program from 2009 – 2017. He continues to teach Entrepreneurship, Operations Management and Strategic Management at AGSB.

An Economics graduate of Ateneo de Manila, he took his MBA at the AGSB and completed his PhD in Education Leadership and Management at the De La Salle University. His passion for education and training led him to be involved in various organizations that advocate transformation and excellence in the Philippine education system. He is presently the President of the Regional Technical Vocational Educators Association of Region IVA (RTVEA), Vice President of Philippine Association of Private Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAPSCU) and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Coordinating Council of Private Educators Association (COCOPEA). He is also currently the Laguna Industry Network for Knowledge, Innovation and Technology (LINK IT), the Chairman of the Regional ICT Council of CALABARZON, Vice Chairmanship of the Regional Competitiveness Council, and the official Philippine representative to the Asian Entrepreneurship Awards.

ASAKO SAKURAI – Thailand

Asako Sakurai joined JETRO in 1998 and served in numerous positions throughout the JETRO over the years. In 2002, she gained Certified Management Consultant from The Small and Medium Enterprise Agency. DELON TOH – Singapore

Dr Delon Toh is the Deputy Director for Healthcare and Biomedical team, and has been in Enterprise Singapore since 2016. He had developed and implemented strategies to grow the local Biomedical ecosystem and had struck partnerships with global intermediaries and VCs to anchor their activities in Singapore.

Prior to joining the economic agency, he was a research scientist in Agency for Science, Technology and Research working on stem cells and epigenetics. He also holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Regenerative Medicine from National University of Singapore.

JOSEPHINE CHAO – Taiwan

Joining the Epoch Foundation ( www.epoch.org.tw ) in 1998, Ms.Chao’s role as a president is to build connections between Epoch and the world renowned institutes, such as MIT IMD, and UC Berkeley. Ms.Chao helps the foundation to bridge up-to- date technology and innovations between academics and industries to facilitate industrial development with the mission of promoting economic prosperity in the Asia Pacific region.

To nurture the next generation’s global vision and ability to compete, Ms.Chao initiated “the Epoch School” program (https://school.epoch.org.tw/)in 1998, promoting domestic entrepreneurial education and activities that keep pace with
international trends. Over the past years, Epoch School has gained a high reputation among Taiwan’s universities and industries. Epoch School has had a great impact on more than 3,000 qualified young entrepreneurs. They either devoted themselves as professionals to companies or NGOs, started up over 60 companies, or even focused on academic research, all making their contribution to the society. In 2008, Ms.Chao took one step forward and launched an incubator
program, Garage⁺ (http://www.garageplus.asia/) focuses on early stage technology based startups in IOT, computing, h ealthcare & MedTech, and new agriculture. Garage+ has facilitated 300 startups, including 139 teams from worldwide, and reached 75% successful funding rate.

KAYOKO SAWADA – Singapore

She began her career with JETRO after graduating from university, a Japanese government-funded body promoting trade and investment to and from Japan. She has been promoting business exchange between Japan and overseas countries.

KIEWAI KHOO – Singapore

After graduating from National University of Singapore and Nagoya University of Japan, Kiewai started her career in the Japanese Airline & Cosmetic Industry for corporate planning, marketing & staff training.

In 2003, she joined JETRO Singapore supporting foreign affiliated companies for investment into Japan, as well as Japanese companies’ venturing into Singapore. In 2015 April, she was posted to JETRO Tokyo HQ as the project manager for the ASEAN desk.

She assumed the position of Director for Business Dev & PR at JETRO Singapore from January 2020, to continue support ASEAN companies of their business venture into Japan.

KOKI ONO

Koki ONO joined JETRO in 2016 and served in several positions including Intellectual Property Division and Tashkent Office. He assumed the current position in September 2020, and has been supporting start-up companies’ businesses between China and Japan.

HUI KWOK LEONG – Singapore

Hui Kwok Leong, a Singaporean, obtained his Computer Science honorary degree and master’s degree from National University of Singapore. In 2018, he was awarded the National Day Commendation Medal (PK) by the President of Singapore. He has held various key positions at technology startups in Singapore, brunei and China, and has made pioneering contributions to entrepreneurship and innovation in Singapore, Brunei and China.

He was responsible for the setup of iCentre, which was Brunei government’s first and largest ICT incubator that was in collaboration with NUS. In addition, he was involved in the successful acquisition of a NUS start-up to McAfee, the second-largest antivirus software company in the US.

Currently, he works for NUS and serves currently Acting Director of Ecosystem Development at NUS Enterprise, Deputy Director in NUS Suzhou Research Institute (NUSRI Suzhou) and Senior Advisor at NUS Chongqing Research Institute (NUSRI Chongqing) on Entrepreneurship and Innovation . Kwok Leong oversees the entirely global BLOCK71 family of NUS incubators and that includes the Hangar, ICE71 and PIER71. He is responsible for global ecosystem development; innovation and commercialization in China, including: establish and operate an entrepreneurial ecosystem with Singaporean characteristics, help high-tech projects to be successfully implemented, and guide technology start-ups to explore markets and seek financial support, etc in Singapore and various locations globally. In NUSRI Suzhou, he has established BLOCK71 Suzhou, helped incubatees to raise more than 100 million yuan in equity funding, incubated more than 70 companies, and introduced 21 SIP Pioneer talents. He also cooperated with a number of well-known universities and enterprises at home and abroad to build an innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, established benchmark activities for China-Singapore cooperation and organized Innovfest Suzhou. In 2014, he also successfully set up the China-Singapore (Suzhou) Innovation Center in SIP. In 2017, he promoted the establishment of the NUS Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Commercialization Center and vigorously promoted the cooperation between China and Singapore in innovation and entrepreneurship.

In early days, he served as research and application project manager of the Singapore government’s largest computer research institute KRDL (currently known as A@STAR I2R), and the research and application project manager of the Japan-Singapore Artificial Intelligence Center. He was fully responsible for the development and application of the Department of Statistics Singapore’s first intelligent statistical system. Kwok Leong has served as the director of the NCB (IDA) – SunMicrosystem Java center, responsible for promoting the full application of Java software technology in Singapore.

He also founded his business as an entrepreneur, and the company was acquired three years after its establishment. As an angel investor, he has also helped many start-ups with their strategic decisions on marketing, investment and financing, with some notable successful exit. He also participated in the acquisition and investment work of over 28 million Singapore dollars.

He was the recipient of the Singapore Tan Kah Kee Young Inventor Silver Award (1998), Best Team Member from Silicon Valley’s Centigram Inc (1994), the National Day Medal (PK) awarded by the President of Singapore (2018), outstanding educator in SIP (2013-2014), Jiangsu province Labor Medal (2015) .

K SURESH KUMAR – India

Dr Suresh Kumar started his career in Coimbatore, in a Textile Machinery Manufacturing company, after which he joined PSG-Science & Technology Entrepreneurial Park (PSG-STEP) – The Technology Busines Incubator (TBI) associated with PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, India with the foucs to support start-ups in the areas of informtion technology, electronics and mechanical. He has been a part of establishing the incubation facility and building its brand to the stakeholders of entrepreneurship in the institute and in the region.
For about two decades, he has been responsible for managing the incubation facility, handholding start-ups, implementing the innovation fund, managing the seed fund support system, coordinating the Outreach Centre activities for promoting innovations and identifying & executing the consulting assignments.
Suresh Kumar is the president of Indian STEPs and Business Incubators Association (ISBA) and also handles the Secretariat of Asia Pacific Incubation Network (APIN) – an initiative supported by infoDev, World Bank & Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. Under APIN, he organizes capacity building programms and workshops for the business incubation managers across the asia pacific region.
He is certified as Business Incubaton Trainer by infoDev, The World Bank Group and a mentor in the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN).
He had participated in various international programs/workshops held in various coutries.
Suresh Kumar holds a engineering degree in Mechanical and a PhD in Management.

MIKE HANNA – New Zealand

Mike is an Investment Manager inside New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s Investment Team. Mike enables companies to raise Seed to Series B investment amounts through capability building and connections to the global investment ecosystem. Mike has a key focus on the Information and Communication Technology sector and is also involved in the angel and venture capital markets. Prior to joining NZTE Mike was an Investment Director at Direct Capital, and was the primary lead of “TMT Ventures” New Zealand’s largest venture capital fund with $125m under management. His role included; board seats, influencing strategy, project work and leading mergers and acquisitions transactions in portfolio companies. In an earlier role at Direct Capital Mike was responsible for investment analysis, research, and preparation of investment proposals. Mike also has an extensive corporate and investment banking background with leading institutions, Barclays Capital and Ahli United Bank in the United Kingdom, and ANZ Bank.

MOHAD HAZMI MANSOR – Malaysia

Hazmi Mansor received Bachelor Degree in Information Technology from Malaysia’s oldest university; University of Malaya. Raised with ‘Japanese educated’ siblings brought the interest to work with Japanese organization, thus he joined JETRO Kuala Lumpur right after graduated in 2011. After 9 years’ experience promoting FDI into Japan by Malaysian companies, Hazmi is venturing into innovation field and working to foster the collaboration among Japanese and Malaysian talented start-ups.

SIVA RAMAMOORTHY – India

Siva is a successful Entrepreneur, a Corporate Leader, a Global Start-up Mentor, an active teacher of Entrepreneurship. He is a well-known member of the start-up ecosystem in India, South Asia and the US.

He serves as a Mentor with Zone Startups, located at the Bombay Stock Exchange tower in Mumbai, India. He has served as a mentor at Stanford Ignite at Stanford University and servers as an Honorary Associate at the University of Sydney Business School. He also teaches an annual course of “Technology Entrepreneurship –from idea to market traction” at the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Finland – a deep tech university. He has over 30 global presentations and papers to his credit in countries including – US, Australia, Fiji, Belgium, Sri Lanka, South Korea; including at forums such as United Nations ITU, Kyungpuk National University. He was recently invited to join the Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University, USA as a mentor.

Past Corporate roles include Director of Marketing at VMware, Director of a regional unit at Intel, Product Management for a greater than $500 million product at Nortel Networks. He has also led marketing for Tejas Networks, a US_India tech company/start-up that IPO’d in 2017.

He holds a MS in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky. He also holds a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA.

TAKETO SUGAWARA – Japan

Taketo SUGAWARA is a Director of Incubation and Entrepreneurship Education at the University of Tokyo. He teaches Entrepreneurship, runs multiple startup support programs and manages the University of Tokyo’s on-campus incubators, Entrepreneur Plaza, Entrepreneur Lab, Entrepreneur Hub, etc. Since 2009, in his role, he has taught more than 3,000 students and incubated more than 100 university startups. 4 of the supported startups has been listed on the stock market and 9 of them has been positively acquired by public companies. Prior to that, he has worked for IBM as a consultant. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Business Administration from the University of Tokyo.

TOMOHIRO TAKASHIMA – China

Tomohiro Takashima is a Director-General of JETRO Hong Kong since July 2019.
Prior to current his responsibility, Mr. Takashima was Director General of Invest Japan Department at JETRO headquarters in Tokyo since December 2016.
He launched attracting overseas startups with the aim of creation of innovation in Japan through the business activities of foreign affiliated companies. He also promotes attracting investments to local regions.
He served as a Director of Public- Relation Division and a Director of Secretariat Office and Chief Personal Assistant for Chairman & CEO at Head Office between 2008 and 2015.
He was also assigned in Lagos, London and Bangkok office and supported global operations of Japanese companies between 1993 and 2008.
He started his career at JETRO in 1990.

YOSHIHARU NAKAZAWA – China

Mr.Nakazawa joined JETRO in 1997, worked at IDE(Institute of Developing Economies), and was assigned to the JETRO Shanghai office from 2003 to 2007. After returning to Japan, mainly in charge of overseas expansion support the content industry and service industry, 2016-2019 join in Cool Japan Fund Inc.,and was assigned to the JETRO Shanghai office from 2019 (current position).

Yuichiro Ebisu has been a director in JETRO Moscow since 2019.He is in charge of research project, promotion for innovative business exchange between Japan and Russia, and promotion for foreign investment in Japan.

YULIA TOLKISHEVSKAYA – Russia

Yulia Tolkishevskaya is a Head of International Projects Manager at the Skolkovo Foundation – a largest state entity in charge of establishing and promoting the innovations ecosystem in Russia. Yulia is in charge of communication with various counterparts in East Asia, as well as with relevant divisions of Russian governmental bodies. She manages an extensive network of partners from the corresponding region, identifying and developing new opportunities, organizing high-profile meetings and delegations’ visits, and providing informational and analytical reports for the Foundation leadership. She puts her best efforts, as well as knowledge and experience, into administering a series of international projects, being responsible for selecting partners and overseeing cooperation with key counterparts in the regions and guiding it through its inception.
